I've been to "the roof of the world" - Tibet - three time.
This land has a unique culture, mysterious religion, and amazing people. It attracts me and grasps my soul, and keeps me visiting again and again. The main reason for me, as you can guess, is that
I Love Tibetan Fashion!
They are so colorful, bright, bold and original!
They are my greatest inspirations all the time.
Look, how beautiful they are!
Tibetan clothing is influenced by religion, enviornment, history, beliefs, and character of the local people.
It normally consists of a robe and shirt.
Clothing style various in Tibet. In Lhasa, where the weather is warmer and damper , many men wear double layered robes, and women dress in close-fitting robes and long sleeved shirts, with brightly decorated aprons.
Do you know the apron can indicate a Tibetan women's marital status? According to custom, the aprons are only worn by married women.
Their ornaments are my favorite parts! They are usually golden and silver wares, as well as jewelry made of amber, agate, jadeite, pearl and ivory.
You may have noticed that I have a lot of Tibetan ornaments.
For example, I have this big piece of necklace which I love the most. There is an interesting story about it.
I found this eye catching necklace on a beautiful Tibetan lady, one day when I was wondering on the street of Lhasa. You wouldn't believe this, but I loved it so much that followed this lady wherever she went.
Tibetan people are extremely warm and hospitable. They may invite you, as a visitor (stranger) into their home and serve you homemade food, as well as the famous Tibetan butter tea. I knew this because lived in a local Tibetan house for one week. That was an eye opening experience for me!
Anyway, this lady I followed finally noticed me. I knew some Tibetan women would sell their jewelries from the local market.
So, I started by asking if I could have a look of her necklace.
"Of course!" She said, and she kindly took it out to let me look and touch!
What a gem! I had never seem anything so beautiful in my life!
This was very embarrassing, very bad, and I was so crazy! I felt that I need to tell her very nicely that I would pay anything for it,
if she had the intention to sell...
Suddenly, she asked: "Do you want to buy?"
She must have understood everything from my widely opened eyes!
You knew the end of the story already:
My necklace and me live happily together, and love each other forever!
