Love is patient and kind

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

Nurture yourself

I attended a seminar on Saturday at the Chinese Culture Centre. It was very interesting and informative. I met some old friends and made some new ones.  The seminar was called "Nurture Yourself".

The most basic tenet of self nurturing is to take time for yourself. Taking time off allows you to be more efficient when you return to work.

Here are some strategies that I adopted from the seminar. Some of them I've been practising for a while. They really make me happy.

- Keep a diary or a blog;

- Develop an intimate circle of friends;

- Put on your favorite music or radio, sing and dance. -My favorite radio channel is FM 89.7 - French version of Radio Canada.

- Call your best friend for a walk or for coffee;

- Sink into hot tub for a long, luxurious soak at the end of the day- I am doing it every other day at the recreation centre now;

- Snack on your favorite "comfort food."- mine is nuts;

- Meditate, or yoga;

- Express your gratitude on a daily basis; (to God, to family members, to friends, to colleagues...)

- Hug your kids or family members 10 times a day; - I am doing it only five times or less.

- Visit your favorite bookstore or library, and spend a   whole afternoon there;

- Say something kind and positive to a stranger

- Learn a new skill...

We had a rich breakfast and lunch together. The food was delicous!

My friend Ruby hosted the workshop. She delivered the seminar in an empowering and connected environment. She is a family counselor, a hard worker and a devoted Christian.  She has been projecting a very positive influence on me since we met three years ago.  I adore her!

For this seminar, Ruby even invited a massage therapist and a Chinese doctor to serve us!

What a luxuery day we had!

Happy International Women's Day!

What are somethings that made you smile today?

-My outfit. - It is simple and comfortable. I am wearing the same skirt as yesterday, with a soft sweater.

-My walking. - It was such a warm and sunny day! Birds were singing, kids were laughing and snow was melting. Spring is almost here. I feel so blessed that I am able to walk to work!

- My swimming. - I was alone in the small swimming pool this morning. I love to see light filters through water and projects on the blue mosaic bottom of the swimming pool. I made the little sparkling light dance when I swam by.

- It is International women's Day. - I received many emails from my friends and colleagues. I am happy and content.

So, I enjoyed a wonderful International Women's Day!
How about you?

Playing layer clothing

Layer clothing will  make a outfit look different and add personal character. I am playing with layers for some of my pieces to make different looks today.

I add a legging under my skirt and a belt on my top.

I add a light green cardi on my top

I add a large vest, a hat and small bag

I add my jeans cape, then, I am ready to go!

My hemp bag - 紫红色亚麻包

I fell in love with this bag in the souk (that how they call the local  market) of Marrakesh, Morocco. It has a beautiful combination of color, its design is quite authentic, and its handle is made by genuine leather while its body is made of hemp.

Its shape is quite cute, it holds a lot of stuff, and it is easy to match my daily clothing. So, I can actually use it often.

Today, I wanted to match this handbag with something special to make its elegance stand out. I found this purplish dress in my closet. I never realized that it looked quite similar to the bag.  It has almost the same color pattern, and it is made of different materials too.

I added my old short-sleeves coat that I bought from Montreal many years ago, then, my red boots and and jewelries.

Voila, here is the look!

Volunteering at the Drop In & Rehab Centre

Just as you've noticed, Saturday is my art day, and Sunday is my volunteering day. Today, our church's youth group went to the Drop In and Rehab Centre.
I was assigned to the Laundry and Hygiene department. My job was to open the shower door and let people in, and serve them with Shampoo, Conditioner, soap, toothbrush and other hygiene products upon request. Also, I needed to make appointment for the wash machine and assign one if somebody requests last minute.

The staff there were super kind and nice. Even though I did not do much, they kept smiling and saying thanks.  I think I will come back more often.  :)

Volunteering is very rewarding.
We feel happy that we are able to help others.
