My Hawaiian Easter experience

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead ... 1 Peter 1:3

I always remember my Easter experience when I lived in Hawaii with my dearest Da Ma Linda. She invited almost 50 guests to her beach house for a whole day's party in 2005!

On that Good Friday, we went to shopping. She bought a lot food, Easter decorations, eggs, brushes and paint. -  She made sure that everybody have fun and have a chance to paint his/her own eggs. Saturday, my task was to greet guests and serve them food. The music was on!  We were chatting, eating, drinking, singing, playing Ukulele and Hula dancing . We also went hiking and kayaking. I made so many friends... How I miss those wonderful days with my Da Ma!

This year, my church will organize a Good Friday worship. On Saturday, the youth group will have their 30 hour famine at my place for fundraising. I am going to prepare some fun activities.

Hopefully, we will have some good time together.

Happy Easter!

Busy weekend

My weekends are usually fully booked, busier than my weekdays.

Saturday, we went to the Clay class in the morning. - We've been doing Clay Play for two months now, every Saturday morning. We met some interesting families, and had tons of fun!

This is the original clay "Bird Feeder" we made in February.

This is the one we colored last month.

This is the glazed one we finally got!

Sunday afternoon, we went to say goodbye to a friend. She sold her house and her pet horse here, and moved to Cusco, Peru, the amazing ancient Inca Empire capital. We made a plan to visit her, Machu Picchu,  and even La Paz, Bolivia in the future.

In the evening, we went to see Stephen Massicotte's play "Mary's Wedding" at the Martha Cohen theatre. This is a most widely performed Canadian play for the past decade. Two people illustrated a dream, a poem, a beautiful love story during the First World War. Very impressive professional actors, sound system and light, smoke and stage design!

We never missed going to our church every week. Sunday morning, we are always there meeting people, singing and worshiping God. After, I usually play Squash, Pingpong or badminton. Later this Sunday afternoon, we went volunteering in the kitchen at the Drop in Centre with the church's youth group.

This is why I don't have time for my laundry and house cleaning.
Would you please forgive me? :)

Mademoiselle Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel (1883-1971) made stylish clothes more practical. She was famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits, and little black dresses. She was a style icon known for her simple yet sophisticated outfits paired with great accessories, such as several strands of pearls.

Here are my favorite quotes of Coco Chanel.

"Nature gives you the face you have at twenty; it is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty."

"A beautiful dress may look beautiful on a hanger, but that means nothing. It must be seen on the shoulders, with the movement of the arms, the legs, and the waist."

"Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.”

“A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

"Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door."

"Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions. "

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. "

"I am not young but I feel young. The day I feel old, I will go to bed and stay there. J'aime la vie! I feel that to live is a wonderful thing. "

Fashion vs Style

Fashion pursuits perfection, while style allows characteristic flaws.

I would rather enrich my personal style than following constantly changing fashion trends.

Here are some pictures I took from Vancouver Island last week, at my friend's ocean front house.

A luxury week in Victoria

I went to visit a friend in Victoria, BC last week.

Spring was almost there, flowers started blooming, and filled the air with a sweet scent.

We spent days and nights in shopping, meeting designers in their studios, reading books, talking about fashion and life styles, matching clothing to make different looks, taking pictures, cooking delicious food, etc. We enjoyed girls' time together.

I had a whole week to relax, learn and have fun.

Style is putting a signature on what we wear...

Star fashion designer Rebecca Moses has the most incredible definition about style.   Here is what she says:

Style is a refection of who we are, where we come from and what we have experienced - the good, the bad, and the indifferent.
It is what makes us into the unique beings that we are.

Style is not skin deep. It is soul deep.
It is our most significant form of expression.
It is how we communicate who we are to the world around us.
It is our voice.

Isn't this magnificent?
